Yamaha blaster problems?
So I can't start my 2001 yamaha blaster without starting fluid. I cleaned the carb, replaced fuel line and filter, new spark plug and checked everything else over but still no luck. I read a question on here with the same situation and they said it may need a top end rebuild (cylinder, piston & rings). But I was wondering if I could instead just get new rings a cheaper fix then the $150 for the whole cylinder kit. Any thoughts or suggestions???
Use a compression tester to see if it needs a new top end. The motor is 10 years old, and a kit is cheap, so it wouldn't hurt to rebuild it. Also the reeds should be replaced.(it's 2 stroke right?)
However, you may rebuild it and still have the same problem. I doubt its the top end if you're using starter fluid. The jetting might be too lean.
